Fire truck donation for Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca
Thanks to the hard work
and persistence of Granite Bay, CA resident and
businessman Carlos Solis, the town of Puerto Escondido is
the proud owner of a fire engine.
Mr. Solis has taken a personal interest in improving the
lives of this small community. Over the past ten years,
he has made many donations to the people there.
On one of his past visits, Carlos found out that Puerto
Escondido did not have a fire truck. This had serious
repercussions once when two hurricanes pounded the area
and fires broke out all over town. After hearing this,
Mr. Solis started on a mission to get Puerto Escondido
the fire engine they greatly needed.
When the Fire Department in Penryn, CA purchased a new
fire engine, they donated their old one to Mr. Solis so
he could bring it down to the people of Puerto Escondido.
Bill Hay International helped Mr. Solis transport the
fire engine. As of this writing, the new Puerto Escondido
fire truck is at the Laredo, TX border waiting to cross
customs. It has become an unfortunate victim of
bureaucratic delays due to additional import requirements
that seem to change on a daily basis. Bill Hay
International and Mr. Carlos Solis haven't given up hope
- we realize that all the headaches will be worth it once
this donation is in the hands of the people of this
community.
Mr. Solis and others involved have established a bank
account to receive monetary donations to help out with
this and other projects. If you would like to donate or
learn more about Mr. Solis' efforts in Puerto Escondido,
